Aren't I lovely at thinking of titles?

Vena Riddle found potions an alright class, it could be interesting and things they learnt might be useful in later life but other times she was rather put off with it. Expecially when the Potions Professor mentioned 'partners,' Vena did not get on very well with other people which was partly her fault, partly theirs and partly Toms. But blaming people never really gets anyone anywhere (except out of Detensions when you blow something up) So the class that could have been interesting. They were making Veritaseimn for Pete's sake which if one could manage to steal would be incredibly useful to have. But as they were going to be partnered up Vena could tell that it was going to suck.

She twirled her wand in her hand a few times, a habit she had picked up over the years and sent the teacher an irrited look as he started assigning partners for the students. "Samuels, Riddle." Vena scowled at him, wasn't this class going to be fun.

Natalie Samuels sat in potions class, head leaning on her hand. This class played no role in her future, so she did not know why she continued to take it. Perhaps, because it took up time in her day. Nat wasn't sure. One thing she did know however was that when the teacher announced partner things were going to go downhill, as the majority of her friends had opted out of the class after OWLs. She looked around the room, hoping she would at least get paired with someone tolerable. She was not so fortunate as the teacher called out "Samuels, Riddle." Sure, Nat didn't have a problem with the girl, never having spoken to her, but that didn't mean a thing.

Vena was not moving from her seat, if that girl wanted to work this project and get a good grade she could come over here. Vena was perfectly cabable of making the potion on her own, it would probably be more successful if she did it on her own anyway. She twirled her wand around her hand again before pocketing it. She would have much rathered the classes if the teachers didn't seem to like to pair everyone up. It would be much better if one had the choice as to whether they wanted to be partnered or not.

Nat sighed to herself when she noticed that her so called partner wasn't moving from her seat. Begrudgingly, Nat got up from her seat and walked over to where the other girl was sitting, taking the empty chair at table. She much would have liked to huffily sit down, but that wasn't proper.

Vena turned her head as the other girl came and sat next to her, stll thinking it would have been much easier if she was working on her own. "Go get the ingredients," She said to her, it wasn't a question she just telling her what to do. Vena lit the fire under the cauldren with her wand, it was easier to manually doing it anyway.

Natalie took a moment to look at the girl as she spoke. "Excuse me?" she said in tone that suggested she did not take well to being bossed around, especially by someone who was her age. Probably a little younger actually, since Nat was one of the oldest students in her year.

Vena raised her eyebrow. "You heard me." She said said looking at the girl as she fidded with how high the fire needed to be. She'd only been in this girls presence about ten seconds and she was already starting to annoy her.

"Well, yes I did," Natalie said back. "And I think that your tone needs readjusting. You sound far too bossy." Then she raised an eyebrow at the other girl, not bothering to move to get the ingredients. It would take a politer tone to get her to do anything, asshe was raised on politeness.

"Alright," Vena said leaning back in her chair. "We'll fail the assignment then. See if I care." This girl was annoying her immeansly. 'My tone needs adjusting?' Vena thought to herself with an eyeroll. 'Like yours doesn't.'

Natalie half-shrugged at her. "I'm just fine with failing actually. I don't really need this class for anything once I graduate." Then she proceeded to getting out her book she'd been reading and flipped to the page she stopped on.

Vena rolled her eyes, she did in fact want to do this potion because it would be interesting to have a small store of it she could manage to nick some of it. She got up to go and get the ingredients with a frown coming back and glancing at the instructions. She set off doingthe first step.

Natalie looked up from her book as she noticed the girl (merlin she wished she could think of her name, they were in the same house for crying out loud!) get the ingredients and start on the potion. Then she wondered if she should help or not, not really wanting to.

Vena didn't care that the other girl didn't seem to want to help. It was easier and better that way, the other girl didn't have the chance to stuff up the potion. And Vena wanted it perfect because she was now intent on stealing some of it.

Nat decided that she wasn't going to bother with helping make the potion unless she was directly asked. Instead, she read over her book. Besides, the girl seemed like she had it all under control on her own and didn't need Nat's help.

The class ended and they were instructed to perform a preservation spell on their potions so that it wouldn't go off before their enxt lesson and they were given a chance to work on it again.

A few days later they were back in Potions to finish up what they had started last time they were there. Nat supposed she should help out this time, if her partner allowed for her to without bossing her around.

Vena was not really looking forward to potions, sure the potion was interesting and all but she just wasn't looking forward to it. And when the other girl showed that she was going to help her move plumeted furthur. She sighed twirling her wand around her hand before pocketing it to work on the potion.

Nat attempted to help with the potion, but the girl (she still could not remember her name) seemed to take on most things on her own, leaving Nat with nothing to do but watch and get the next ingredient ready.

"Take over the stiring," Vena said to whats-her-face, she wasn't even sure if she knew the girls name. She put the rod down for her to pick up and got out her knife to cut up the next ingredient.

Natalie frowned as the girl bossed her around yet again. But, regardless, she picked up the stirrer and started to stir the potion.

Vena cut up the next ingredient and the one after that, as the next two steps had to be done pretty close together. Once she'd cut it she added the first ingredient and ten seconds later the next one. She pekt her eye on the flame underneath to make sure it was still on the right dile because sometimes it liked to change on it's own.

Natalie kept sitrring the potion asthe girl added some more ingredients to it. She changed directions of the stirring once the book called for it.

Vena kept her eye half on what she ws doing and half on what the other girl was doing, making sure she was doing it right. She supposed she could sea why two people were eeded for this potion has sometimes one had to be doing two things at once if they were doing it on their own.

The class time dwindled down and sooon the teacher was telling them to clean up their tables.

Vena cast a preservation spell onto their potion and then helped her partner start to clean up their working area. Taking the ingredients back into the store cardboard she stacked them onto their correct shelves and went back to the work bench.
