Family: Father: Dennis Hayes, 45, Muggle (estranged). Mother: Daycee Rockwell Hayes, 43, Remington. Sister: Moira Indigo Haye, 14, Remington.

Personality: Dodge is very out-going and loves to meet people. He is usually all smiles and laughs, because he really enjoys life. Unlike some of the other members of the track team, he is not so much a focused runner as he is a thrill-racer; he runs for the sake of running, not for the sake of winning. He loves music and dancing and social activities. As far as schoolwork goes, he makes fairly decent grades without trying very hard, as he is not much of a studier. He is quick to develop a crush but also usually quick to dismiss it. He has dated a few of the boys from the GSA but nothing has lasted long or been very serious. His one big personality flaw is his tendency to keep certain emotions inside, like his guilt over his father leaving the family and his worry about his little sister.

History: Dennis and Daycee grew up together in San Francisco, California. Although both were born to Muggle families, Daycee turned out to be a witch, and at the age of 13 she went away to study at the Salem Academy. Even though she knew it was dangerous, Daycee told Dennis all about magic and the school that she attended. Dennis took his time accepting it but soon did not care as he realized he was in love with her. As soon as she graduated, he asked her to marry him, but she refused. They stayed together, but Daycee pursued a job as a teacher at a magical primary school. Dennis, meanwhile, became a dentist, following in his own father's footsteps. Dennis and Daycee were finally married when Daycee found herself pregnant at the age of 26. Both fed up with their mundane names, they named their son Dodger Blue.

Little Dodger grew up in leaps and bounds, reaching his full height at an early age (although he is not particularly tall). He was hard to take places because he always loved to dart off and away from his mother and father, prompting them to reduce his name to "Dodge" to describe his antics. His magic, however, was very calm and natural and never caused the family problems. Dodge's little sister Moira was born when he was 3 years old. She was also a bit of a wild child and her magic came in spastic bursts that Dennis disapproved of; he often kept her tucked away in her room during visits from his family so that they would not learn of the magical life his wife and children led.

Both Dodge and Moira attended the magical primary school their mother taught at (a small school in Sacramento called Faery Hill) and Dodge went on to Salem Academy at the age of 13. He joined the track team immediately and was easily the star from a young age, earning him many friends. In his third year, Druscilla Ramsay came to the school to teach and started up a Gay-Straight Alliance. Without much fuss or internal battling, Dodge simply began attending, already comfortable and secure with himself. When classmates began to ask if he was gay, he was open about it and very few people seemed to have a problem about it, so there was not much ado over nothing. That summer, however, when Moira mentioned a boy that Dodge had a crush on, their father flipped his lid. His conservative views had been a constant undercurrent through Dodge's life, but he was never aware that his father was so homophobic. He began to constantly mistreat and belittle Dodge, telling him he was a disgrace, and Daycee decided that she wouldn't put up with anymore. She and Dennis divorced and Dennis moved away to Utah.

Since then, the family has gone on in a fairly fractured state. Daycee, always a free soul, has dealt fairly well with the divorce. Dodge and Moira, however, have not had quite so much luck. Dodge feels like he has broken up his parents' happy marriage, and Moira, who had always been a Daddy's girl, seemed to snap and turned rebellious and wild. Her antics are famous around the school, but Dodge pretends that everything in his life is normal and running smoothly to keep himself and his many friends happy.
